Founded in 2018, Mal Al Sham is the culmination of a dream that began when Mr. Ahmed Abu Ali and his family moved from Syria to El Cajon, California, in 2016. Back in Syria, the family had a thriving wholesale business, but upon arriving in California, they faced new challenges and worked in various roles to adapt to their new life.

Driven by their deep passion for authentic Syrian cuisine and a desire to share their rich culture with the community, they decided to open Mal Al Sham. It wasn’t an easy journey—building the restaurant took hard work, determination, and overcoming countless obstacles. Yet, through it all, their love for food and commitment to quality never wavered.

At Mal Al Sham, we serve more than just meals. We offer a taste of home, an experience crafted from generations-old recipes passed down through the Abu Ali family.
